Campus placements at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-M) 2023–24 have begun, with the first round having been wrapped up. IIT Madras has reportedly placed more than 50 per cent of its students this far and is getting ready for Phase 2, according to information provided by IIT-M to Times Now. It’s interesting to note that IITM achieved a significant milestone on the first placement day, reportedly receiving a record number of job offers.
By the completion of Phase 1 of the placements season, there had been a significant rise in recruiting from the Core sector. Furthermore, international offers for postgraduate students increased significantly over the previous year.
During the first round of the placement process at IIT Madras, which is conducted with equality and inclusion, more than 55 per cent of students from backgrounds that are socially and economically disadvantaged were also recruited. The first phase of placements at IIT Madras revealed a median salary of Rs 19 lakh. The median pay for a four-year undergraduate degree at IIT Madras was measured at 17 lakh in 2021–2022. Once the placement process is finished in its entirety, the full set of statistics for this year will be released.
To participate in the placement season of 2023-24, IIT Madras has also kindly invited organisations seeking exceptional human resources to visit the campus and interact with the Placement and Internship office at of IIT Madras Career Pathway Centre.
In the meantime, IIT-M announced an upsurge of 19 per cent in internship offers during day one of this year’s campus internship fair, which was held in two sessions on August 5 and 12 for students in the 2023–24 batch. There was a 17 per cent rise in the total amount of students who were able to bag internships and a 51 per cent spike in the number of companies who approached IIT Madras with offers of internships. Among the top employers taking part in the internship programme this year were J.P. Morgan Chase & Co., Adobe, Procter & Gamble, Texas Instruments, and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories.
