Indian Railways Issues Urgent Directive to Ensure Punctuality for MPs' Special Session Travel
Indian Railways ramps up punctuality efforts ahead of special parliamentary session, aiming to ensure timely travel for MPs.

In a bid to ensure the seamless journey of Members of Parliament (MPs) heading to the national capital for a special parliamentary session, Indian Railways has issued a crucial directive to all its zones.

This directive couldn’t have come at a more critical moment, underlining just how crucial it is to keep our mail and Express trains running on time across our expansive railway network.

The Railway Board (RB) has sent out an email to all zonal headquarters, emphasizing the need to uphold stringent timekeeping standards. To achieve this, the RB has mandated the deployment of officers at major terminals for round-the-clock monitoring, with a sole focus on punctuality.

The advisory from the Railway Board encompasses several key points to enhance train punctuality:

  • Asset Failures Monitoring: The directive urges vigilance in monitoring asset failures.
  • Swift Rectification: The idea here is to fix any problems as quickly as possible to avoid causing any hiccups in the journey.
  • Optimal Speeds: Trains are encouraged to go as fast as they safely can to make up for any time lost along the way.
  • Addressing Engineering Speed Restrictions: If there are any speed bumps due to maintenance work, the priority is to get rid of them in order to keep things running on time.
  • Priority Restoration of Normal Speeds: The top priority is to get those trains back up to their regular speeds as soon as possible.

Moving on, this advisory was issued because there’s a special parliamentary session happening from September 18 to September 22. Quite a few MPs are choosing to travel by train for this event, and this directive is all about making sure they arrive on time.

The email from the Railway Board stated, “We’ve got to keep an eagle eye on asset failures and fix them fast to avoid messing with our punctuality. Trains, go as fast as you safely can to make up for any delays due to problems and other stuff.”

Engineering-related speed restrictions often result from necessary maintenance work on the railway infrastructure, such as track repairs, sleeper renewals, and rail joint lubrication.

In addition to these measures, the Railway Board has directed zonal heads to deploy officers round-the-clock at major terminals. This move is aimed at ensuring that trains kick-start their journeys on time and maintain punctuality throughout their routes.

As our MPs gather in the capital for this crucial parliamentary session, the Indian Railways is standing firm on its commitment to punctuality. And there’s no doubt that this dedication will play a pivotal role in ensuring their journey is as smooth as can be.
