MCD Polls: Union Ministers, BJP CMs Campaign in Delhi; Nadda Says AAP Govt Drowned in Corruption
Taking a break from the carpet-bombing political campaign in Gujarat, from Rajnath Singh to Assam CM Himanta, top BJP leaders came together for mega roadshows across Delhi

BJP national president JP Nadda on Sunday attacked the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, saying that it is a government which is drowned in corruption.

“The people of Delhi are tired of the Kejriwal government. It is a government which is drowned in corruption. The number of people gathered here indicates that BJP will be blessed,” he said while holding a roadshow in Sangam Vihar ahead of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) went all out in the campaigning of Delhi Municipal elections. On Sunday, top BJP leaders, including its chief JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, other Union ministers and chief ministers of party-ruled states, took part in 14 roadshows across Delhi.

While Assam CM and BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma held a road show in Ghonda area, Pushkar Singh Dhami of Uttarakhand and BJP MP from East Delhi, Gautam Gambhir held a roadshow in Mandawali.

“People’s excitement makes it clear what result of election will be. Kejriwal is best in theatrics. He thinks Hindus are enemies, but can India exist without Hindus? He should apologise for riots in Delhi during CAA (implementation).BJP will win this election,” said Sarma.

Haryana, Assam Chief ministers were also in attendance at the mega roadshow. Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur and Pushkar Singh Dhami of Uttarakhand, said the party in a statement.

The voting for the 250 wards of the MCD polls will be held on December 4 and counting of votes will be held on December 7. Terming it a “Super Sunday”, Delhi BJP general secretary Kuljeet Singh Chahal said Nadda will campaign at Sangam Vihar.

Union ministers, including Rajnath Singh, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Hardeep Singh Puri, Jitendra Singh and Meenakashi Lekhi will also join the road shows in different areas, he said.

Party’s Delhi MPs Harsh Vardhan, Manoj Tiwari, Ramesh Bidhuri, Pravesh Verma, Gautam Gambhir and Hansraj Hans will also join the road shows, he said.

BJP spokesperson Harish Khurana said the MCD polls are an opportunity before the people of Delhi to teach a lesson to the “corrupt” Kejriwal government that has failed to solve various problems, including air pollution.

Kejriwal Kickstarts AAP’s Campaign for MCD Polls

Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal, too, kickstarted party’s campaign for the MCD polls today. Kejriwal held a public meeting around 11am in Paharganj area for to the elections.

Taking to Twitter over BJP’s carpet-bombing poll campaign plan, Delhi CM Kejriwal on Sunday morning said, “Today BJP is going to attack Delhi. Many of their kings and emperors are attacking Delhi from all sides with their respective armies”.

“But just like till now the people of Delhi have bravely faced the attacks of BJP and its L-G, today too the people of Delhi will give a befitting reply to them,” Kejriwal added.

During his public meeting in Paharganj, Arvind Kejriwal urged people not to vote for those who want to stop the development and welfare work in the city in the upcoming civic body polls. Kejriwal talked about his government’s intervention in building schools and hospitals as well as providing free electricity and water.

Kejriwal, however, rued that the dispensation could not do much for improving sanitation in the city as he said “the responsibility of the same lies with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD)”.

“Do not vote for those who want to stop the development and welfare work in Delhi,” Kejriwal said in an apparent reference to the BJP.

“In our tenure, we improved schools and hospitals, provided free electricity and water besides installing CCTVs and building ‘mohalla clinics’, but we feel sad that we could not do anything about improving sanitation as it is the responsibility of MCD. Give us one chance to clean Delhi. We will deliver results,” CM Kejriwal said.
