Nawaz Sharif to Fly from London to Saudi Arabia for A Week Tomorrow, Return to Pakistan on Oct 21: Sources
With Pakistan likely to have elections in January 2024, Nawaz is being seen as the most credible face for the prime minister’s post and is very close to the Saudi leadership as well

Former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif would leave London for Saudi Arabia on Wednesday, sources told CNN-News18. Sharif is likely to spend a week in Saudi Arabia and meet the top leadership, they said, after which he will go to Dubai for two days and finally leave for Pakistan on October 21.

Nawaz Sharif has been in self-imposed exile since 2019. He left for London in the middle of his seven-year jail term on medical grounds. The former PM was later declared a proclaimed offender in the Al Azizia and Avenfield graft cases for his continuous absence from proceedings.

Former PM Shehbaz Sharif last month said that his elder brother would return to Pakistan on October 21. The Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) had also said that Nawaz Sharif was prepared to face “all kinds of circumstances”.

Sources say the cases against him are “over” following the acquittal of his daughter Maryam’s acquittal in a corruption case over a year ago.

With Pakistan likely to have elections in January 2024, Nawaz is being seen as the most credible face for the prime minister’s post and is very close to the Saudi leadership as well.

Senior PML-N leader and former defence minister Khawaja Asif said last week that party supremo Nawaz Sharif would become the prime minister of the country for the fourth time and resolve all problems.
