In response to the significant number of vacant medical seats this year, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has initiated a NEET UG 2023 special stray vacancy round. This round aims to fill the remaining medical seats, and candidates who meet the eligibility criteria are encouraged to submit their applications through the official MCC website at mcc.nic.in before the application window closes.
The official notification issued by the Medical Counselling Committee stated, “All the NEET UG 2023 eligible candidates are hereby informed that to prevent wastage of precious medical seats, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) approached the Hon’ble Supreme Court in Diary No. 45004 of 2023 in W. P (C) No. 76 of 2015 for extension of deadline of admission of under graduate courses and to conduct a Special Stray Vacancy Round for the vacant MBBS/ BDS/ BSc Nursing Seats of All India Quota and State Quota.”
Elaborating further, the Committee added that this is the last round for NEET UG 2023. “It is pertinent to mention that this Special Stray Vacancy Round will be the last round for under graduate courses for this academic year. The details of the vacant AIQ seats are available on the committee’s website. Candidates may contact state counselling authorities for vacant state quota seats,” the official notification read.
Candidates should note that registration for this special stray vacancy round is open till tomorrow November 5 (12 pm), whereas the payment facility will be available till November 5 (3 pm). In addition to that, the choice filling and choice locking facility is available till November 5, and the processing of seat allotment will be held on November 6 and November 7, after which the result will also be issued on November 7. After being shortlisted, the selected MBBS students are required to report to their allotted colleges by November 15.

–– Government-based ID proof (Aadhaar card, PAN card, passport, voter ID, driver’s license, and ration card)
Furthermore, applicants who did not join their seats allotted through the Medical Counselling Committee round 3 onwards are not qualified to participate in the special stray vacancy round, whereas candidates who are not holding any seat either in the All India quota or state quota are eligible to participate.
