'No to Communalism, Casteism, Corruption': Modi Aims to Make India Developed Nation by 2047
G20 Summit: PM Modi said that it's natural for the host country to hold diplomatic meetings in every part of the country and it was its internal matter

As the G20 Leaders’ Summit is all set to kick off in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dismissed all objections raised by China and Pakistan against India holding G20 meets in Kashmir and Arunachal. The prime minister said that it’s natural for the host country to hold diplomatic meetings in every part of the country and it was its internal matter.

In May, India held a key G20 tourism meeting in Kashmir amid tight security and strong opposition from China and Pakistan.

Talking about the flourishing state of the Indian economy in an exclusive interview with PTI, PM Modi said that India’s economic growth is a natural by-product of his nine-year-old government’s political stability adding that India will be a developed nation by 2047 with “corruption, casteism and communalism” having no place in our national life.

“India will be in the top three economies of the world shortly,” PM Modi said, citing the country’s record of jumping five spots in the economy parameter in less than a decade.

The prime minister also stressed the need for timely and clear communication of policy stance by central banks, and policy actions by each country in their fight against inflation so that it can prevent negative repercussions on other countries.

“For long India was seen as a country of 1 billion hungry stomachs, now it is 1 billion aspirational minds, 2 billion skilled hands,” PM Modi told PTI.

While most advanced economies are facing an economic slowdown, chronic shortages, high inflation, and ageing populations, the Indian economy is acknowledged to be the fastest-growing large economy with the largest youth population.

“For a long time in world history, India was one of the top economies of the world. Later, due to the impact of colonisation of various kinds, our global footprint was reduced,” he said.

“But now, India is again on the rise. The speed with which we jumped five spots, from the 10th largest economy to the fifth largest in less than a decade has conveyed the fact that India means business,” he noted.

Adding a fourth ‘D’ – development – to the 3Ds of democracy, demography and diversity, he said the period till 2047 is one of huge opportunity and “Indians who are living in this era have a great chance to lay a foundation for growth that will be remembered for the next thousand years.” India’s USD 3.39 trillion GDP overtook that of the UK in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2022, making it the fifth-largest economy in the world behind the US, China, Japan and Germany.

In the three decades before 2014, Modi said, the country saw many governments that were unstable and therefore, unable to get much done.

PM Modi on India’s G20 Presidency

PM Modi said Africa is a top priority for all the countries in G20 and that no future plan can succeed without all voices being heard.

“The theme of India’s G20 Presidency ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ is not just a slogan but a comprehensive philosophy derived from our cultural ethos,” PM Modi added

India’s G20 Presidency also sowed seeds of confidence in countries of the so-called third world, he said.
