'Rohit Sharma's USP is That He’s Backed Players Who're Injured And Low on Confidence': Sanjay Bangar
Sanjay Bangar asserted that former skipper Sourav Ganguly also did similar with players like Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag and others by backing them.

Former batting coach Sanjay Bangar heaped praise on India captain Rohit Sharma for backing the players who were injured and low on confidence before the start of the World Cup. Rohit has been leading the team from the front in the ongoing mega ICC event with his power-packed performances at the top order. He has also utilised his players well as the Men in Blue have performed collectively well to remain the only unbeaten team in the tournament thus far.

India were in a spot of bother with several players returning from injuries – KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and Jasprit Bumrah. Rahul and Iyer missed cricket for several months due to thigh and back injuries respectively while Bumrah was out for almost a year. However, the team management and skipper Rohit backed them on their return which worked well in India’s favour as the trio has been performing well for the side thus far.

Bangar suggested that Rohit’s USP is to back his players and the backing instilled confidence in the three players who have been doing well.

“I believe his USP is that he’s backed the players who were injured and low on confidence. Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Jasprit Bumrah these 3 players were making comebacks after injury, and they were given the confidence that they were a part of this team, and that the team believes in their abilities, and that they would get opportunities,” said Bangar on Star Sports.

Bangar asserted that former skipper Sourav Ganguly also did similar with players like Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag and others by backing them.

“When any captain says this, it’s above everything for a player. Another captain who did something similar is Saurav Ganguly, when he identified Harbhajan Singh, Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan and Ashish Nehra. So, this is one fantastic contribution by Rohit Sharma as a captain,” said Bangar.

India will next face Netherlands in their last league stage match of the World Cup, meanwhile, it is confirmed that they will enter the semifinal finishing at the top of the points table.
