West Indies all-rounder Romario Shepherd has joined Mumbai Indians from Lucknow Super Giants in the first high-profile mid-season trade ahead of the IPL 2024 season. Mumbai Indians officially confirmed Shepherd’s arrival on their social media handles on Friday.

“Shepherd, who has played 4 IPL matches, representing LSG and Sunrisers Hyderabad, was traded to MI for his existing fee of INR 50 Lakh,” the statement informed further.
Shepherd will boost Mumbai Indians’ ranks and it will be his third IPL franchise, having earlier turned out for LSG and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Having made his IPL debut with Sunrisers in 2022, the Caribbean cricketer played three matches, after which he was snapped up by Lucknow Super Giants ahead of IPL 2023 season.
Shepherd could only play a solitary game for his new franchise, without getting the chance to bowl and he only faced one ball.

The 28-year-old Guyanese star had made his international bow for West Indies in 2018. A T20 specialist, Romario has impressive numbers in the T20 circuit with 109 wickets in 99 games and a strike rate of over 150.
Mumbai Indians finished in fourth place in the IPL 2023 season, beating Lucknow Super Giants, in the Eliminator, but they were beaten by Gujarat Titans in the Qualifier 2.
The five-time holders will hope that Shepherd will help MI get their hands on a record-extending sixth IPL title next year.
Romario joins the array of all-rounders in Mumbai Indians’ ranks, and he will fight it out with the likes of Cameron green, and Duan Jansen among others for a place in the playing XI come the next season.
Shepherd’s trade from LSG to MI is the first domino in the trade-window ahead of the IPL 2024 auction which is reportedly set to take place in Dubai next month.
