Rohit Sharma is always up to showcase his A-game whenever the Indian captain features in the ICC ODI World Cup. He is now one of the most decorated cricketers of this quadrennial tournament in terms of individual records. Apart from achieving several historic feats with his batting prowess, Rohit also demonstrated his leadership quality during India’s three matches so far in this World Cup.
Former Indian cricketer Amol Muzumdar has now showered plaudits on the Indian skipper, underlining how his captaincy played a pivotal role in the Men in Blue’s dominant run in the tournament.
Speaking on Star Sports show, ‘Follow the Blues,’ Muzumdar pointed at three major aspects of Rohit’s captaincy. According to him, Rohit possesses an exceptional ability to read the situation and he always evaluates the data and statistics of the opposition players before making any decision.

Mujumdar also reckons Rohit’s cool and calm nature keeps the other team members free from extra pressure, which enables them to dish out the best performance. Mazumdar further shed light on Rohit’s bonding with other Team India players which help both parties understand each other’s plans and vision.
“Rohit Sharma gives a lot of weightage and value to data and statistics. It is one of the most important aspects of his strategy. In his opinion, it is very important to know each and every tiny detail and statistics of each of the opposition players. He also wants to keep things very straightforward and tries to make his team members think simply as well. He maintains a very cool and calm atmosphere in the team,” Amol Mazumdar explained.
The 48-year-old further dug out the reference to Rohit Sharma’s stunning captaincy records in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Under Rohit’s captaincy, Mumbai Indians have engraved their name on the trophy for a record five times. According to Mazumdar, it was Rohit’s “magical touch” that helped MI achieve tremendous success in the franchise tournament. Before signing off, the ex-cricketer showed faith in Rohit’s leadership ability to secure the World Cup title this year.

“Rohit Sharma’s style of captaincy is a bit different from others. He speaks to his players very politely and in a very lovable way, keeping things very easy and simple. He has that magical touch in him. Whatever changes he makes, come out like magic. For example, Mumbai Indians got that magical touch after Rohit became their captain. I hope India will benefit from his magical touch this year,” Mazumdar said.
Thanks to their three consecutive wins, Rohit Sharma-led India currently holds the top position in the points table. They have overcome some powerhouses like Australia and Pakistan so far in the campaign. In their next appearance, the hosts will square off against Bangladesh on October 19 in Maharashtra.
