Kolkata: A day after courting controversy for saying "true paribartan" (change) had touched West Bengal, Governor MK Narayanan on Wednesday said his words referred to Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) win.
"After trying for four years, it (KKR) finally won (the Indian Premier League). It is obviously a change. 'Paribartan' means change. It has nothing to do with the state government," he told reporters.
While addressing the KKR felicitation ceremony at Eden Gardens, Narayanan on Tuesday said: "Today is the true 'paribartan' (change) that the Chief Minister had ushered in last year."
The statement drew criticism from the Left Front.
Ahead of Assembly elections last year, the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress had called for 'paribartan'. The election ended 34 years of Left Front rule.
