BJP ally LJP accepts rising pulse prices an issue in Bihar Elections, demands PM to take stern action
LJP Parliamentary Board leader Chirag Paswan sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention into this so that stern action could be taken.

Patna: Facing stiff resistance from RJD-JDU-Congress alliance in Bihar elections, NDA partner Lok Jan Shakti Party (LJP) exceeded on Monday that rising prices of pulses has become an electoral issue in Bihar.

While talking to News18 in Patna, LJP Parliamentary Board leader Chirag Paswan sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi's intervention into this so that stern action could be taken.

Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) leaders have been raking up this issue in their public speeches. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also asked the crowd gathered in his rally to decide whether Chicken meat is cheaper or pulses.

Agreeing to this, Paswan said the Prime Minister should think over this issue. "Primarily Union Government is responsible for inflation. So, few steps are needed to be taken and I hope Modi ji will do it", said Paswan.

However, he stressed upon the fact that the state governments too have responsibility to check hoarding and take action.

Earlier, Union agriculture minister Radha Mohan Singh told News18 that Nitish government has not acted at all against the hoarders.

However, Chirag denied that this issue would reflect in electoral results as its a kind of seasonal issue and every now and then a particular thing gets dearer or cheaper. He termed it as cyclical and denounced overall inflation.

Reservation a non issue

LJP leader Chirag Paswan said that reservation is a non issue and after controversies aroused by RJD-JDU, RSS has also clarified on the same.

But he reminded that as an independent party, LJP has been supportive of reservation and he thinks it must continue.

Answering the question on countering Lalu Yadav's assertion that this election is versus backward and forward community, he said, "Lalu has been doing divisive politics and spewing venom to vitiate the society but people of Bihar have understood him. They are going to foil his attempts."
