It has also recommended enhancing minimum punishment in case of habitual offence to 5 years.

New Delhi: The parliamentary standing committee on Personnel has recommended that commercial organisations should be brought under the ambit of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

As per the recommendation, the person in charge of the organisation should be held accountable for all acts of corruption by employees and agents.

The committee has also recommended that the property amassed by corrupt officials should be attached and that giving a bribe should also be an offence. It has also recommended enhancing minimum punishment in case of habitual offence to 5 years.

However, it has opposed the Supreme Court's view that there was no need for government sanction to prosecute officials in court monitored CBI cases.
