New Delhi: Actor-turned-politician Govinda is facing the heat for violating the model code of conduct by distributing money during Holi celebrations in Mumbai.

The Mumbai Suburban Collector and District Election Officer Vishwas Patil submitted report to local police to initiate action against the Congress Lok Sabha MP.

"A detailed report has been given to the police. The police will take further action. They will study the report and if needed, they will collect further details and take necessary action," said Patil.

Govinda in his reply before the Collector said that the place where he allegedly distributed money was not his constituency.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Electoral Officer Debashish Chakrabarty has also ordered an inquiry into the incident.

Govinda, who represented Mumbai North in the 14th Lok Sabha, was showing distributing money to eunuchs outside his Juhu home on Holi.

However, it is not the first time that Govinda has been accused of violating the poll code.

During the 2004 parliamentary elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party had alleged that the actor used pictures of national personalities and saints on his campaign rath (vehicle).
