Bantumilli (Andhra Pradesh): Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) President K Chiranjeevi on Wednesday said his party was holding parleys with some recognised political parties in Mizoram, Goa, Puducherry and Kerala to share a symbol in the coming General Elections in Andhra Pradesh.
The parties with which the Praja Rajyam was conducting confabulations was also ready to extend their cooperation to the latter, he told a press conference in Bantumilli.
Praja Rajyam, in a surprise development, withdrew the case it filed in the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday seeking a common symbol for its candidates for the coming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state.
Chiranjeevi said his party would intensify its efforts to get a common symbol in the near future.
On former Andhra Pradesh chief minister NT Rama Rao's grandson Junior NTR speeches in the TDP's election rallies, the actor-turned-politican said, '' Junior NTR, a small child, was being asked to criticise the rival parties by the leaders behind him.''
He said the first list of party candidates would be released after the 'praja vijay bhari meeting at Hyderabad on March 21.
Chiranjeevi said he cannot say on whether the seats would be given to the leaders in his party and added the Praja Rajyam has not taken any decision so far on his brother-in-law and party General Secretary Allu Aravind contesting the next elections.
He said compared to the other parties, his party would ensure social justice on issuing the party ticket.
When asked whether his party would get comfortable majority in the next Assembly elections, the Chiranjeevi said there is no question of a hung Assembly in the state and Praja Rajyam would get clear majority in the hustings.
He criticised the state government for not having commitment to develop the Machilipatnam port.
Chiranjeevi announced that he will not visit Vijayawada in his first leg of the praja ankitha yatra and said he would visit the city in the second phase of the yatra likely to start from March 23.
Later addressing a praja ankitha sabha, he came down heavily on the previous TDP government for neglecting the rural development and the agriculture sector.
TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu during his tenure had said that agriculture is of no use and now making claims that he would come to the rescue of the peasants if his party is voted to power in the Assembly elections, he charged.
He said the nine-year TDP regime was full of corruption and likewise the Congress government also indulged in rampant corruption during its tenure.
Addressing a large gathering of women at Puligadda near Avanigadda during his road shows in Diviseema region on Tuesday night, Chiranjeevi had promised to supply cooking gas at Rs 100 a cylinder besides free education for girls and total security for women if his party is voted to power.
He said his government would bear the remaining amount as subsidy after providing LPG cylinder at Rs 100 and added if his party came to power in the state he would fight with the Centre to get 50 per cent share in the gas from the Krishna-Godavari basin.
Chiranjeevi also said that he would ensure recruitments for the teacher posts through DSC examination by holding it in January every year and thus provide employment for the youth.
Referring to the backwardness of Diviseema area in Krishna district, he criticised the Congress and TDP for neglecting the region and said he would take up Diviseema development on priority.
