New Delhi: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said on Wednesday that he will order a probe in the chit fund scam after a Saradha group employee alleged that a state minister had close links with the company.
The employee, Diban Deka, said that Assam Health and Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had ties with the group.
Deka, who worked for the group's Bangla daily Sakalbela, published from Guwahati, also alleged that former Assam Director General of Police Shankar Barua and Assam Publication Board chairman and noted singer Sadananda Gogoi were also instrumental in helping the busted group spread its business in Assam.
Speaking to CNN-IBN, Gogoi said, "We will order a CBI probe into the chit fund scam soon. We are discussing the issue." Gogoi, however, ruled out resignations, saying, "There is no question of the minister Biswa Sarma resigning until there is some concrete proof against them. This is a serious issue and the government will take all measures to protect the interests of the investors."
