Jaipur: Ruling out discontent in the Congress over its performance in Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday claimed the party is still strong in the state, but admitted there was "scope for improvement".
"Congress still has a stronghold, it is not weak but a strong party in Rajasthan and getting stronger with time," Gehlot said.
"There could be a few cases of party workers who complain that their grievances were not being redressed by ministers but it does not mean that the party is weak," he said.
"However, there is still scope for improvement," the Chief Minister added.
Gehlot was asked to comment on the party's position in the state in view of reported resentment among party workers over its functioning.
PCC chief Chandrabhan had purportedly said during a recent party workers' meeting that Congress' presence in the state was not as strong as before.
"The issue is made up by media, not a real one. We need to understand that in what sense and reference Chandrabhan said that," he said.
