The Delhi government has said that it is open to suggestions by anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare on the Jan Lokpal Bill. This comes following a meeting between Hazare and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas.
Anna Hazare has reportedly asked the AAP government to make the selection committee more broad base and include two more persons. The veteran Gandhian has also suggested that there should be an inquiry by a High Court judge for removal of a Jan Lokpal.
According to sources, the maximum criticism on the Jan Lokpal Bill from Anna Hazare had come in for the change in appointment and removal process of Jan Lokpal.
Following the meeting with the anti-corruption crusader, Kumar Vishwas said that Hazare had spoken to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on phone and communicated his concerns.
"Anna has made some suggestions and spoken to Arvind on phone on Jan Lokpal. We will go back and put these legitimate concerns before the party," said Kumar Vishwas.
This comes even as another former aide of Anna Hazare, Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan, has dared Kejriwal for a debate on the issue. Targeting the Delhi Chief Minister through a radio advertisement, Bhushan alleged that Kejriwal had diluted the basic provisions of the original Jan Lokpal Bill, which was formulated during the Anna Hazare movement against corruption.
He had earlier termed the Delhi government's Jan Lokpal bill as a 'Jokepal'.
