They both were expelled from their party, the JD-U.

New Delhi: In a show of solidarity, expelled Janata Dal - United (JD-U) leader George Fernandes will accompany another rebel party leader Digvijay Singh when he files his nomination from Banka Lok Sabha seat in Bihar on Thursday.

Both Fernandes and Singh are contesting as independents from Muzaffarpur and Banka seats respectively after being denied tickets by their party.

“George saheb and some other known socialist leaders will be coming to Banka tomorrow (Thursday) to show their support for me during my nomination,” Digvijay, a known detractor of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, told PTI from Banka.

Supporters of Fernandes and Digvijay say that serious attempts are underway to bring all the rebel party leaders and their sympathisers together to ensure the rebels win, while JD-U leaves no stone unturned to ensure their defeat.

“After Digvijay files his nomination, he will accompany Fernandes to Muzaffarpur the next day to chalk out strategies to ensure the victory of Fernandes,” party sources said adding the veteran socialist leader would be projected as a victim who was denied his right.

Earlier both Fernandes and Digvijay had accused Nitish of humiliating hard-working leaders of the party and accommodating “party-hoppers” in the state government.

JD-U has fielded Captain Jai Narayan Nishad from Muzaffarpur and Damodar Raut, a minister in the state government from Banka.
