Modi also launched an attack on Rahul Gandhi for being unaware of poverty and the needs of the poor as he was born with a "golden spoon".

Latur: The Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi has attacked the Congress leadership over the death of a youth Congress worker in Latur of Maharashtra. "I ask Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi what they have done for women's security. The old timers would remember there was a powerful youth congress leader who burnt his wife in a Tandoor. Today, the parents of Kalpana Giri are looking for justice. Even the Nirbhaya fund is lying unutilized," Modi said addressing a public meeting in Latur.

A 29 year old youth Congress worker Kalpana Giri's body was found on March 23 in a lake in Tuljapur near Latur. Latur youth Congress leaders Mahendrasingh Chavan and his aide Sameer Killarkar were arrested by the police in connection with the case. Kalapana Giri had gone allegedly to attend a birthday function of MLA and Vilasrao Deshmukh's son Amit Deshmukh. Her body was found three days later.

Modi also launched an attack on Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi for being unknown to the demands of the poor. "How will those who are born with a golden spoon in the mouth understand what poverty is? He goes to a poor's house with TV Camera and then eats food there," he said.
