New Delhi: There seems to be no end in sight to the deadlock in Delhi as the BJP struggles to form the government. The Aam Aadmi Party, who has decided to sit in the Opposition, met on Monday morning at its chief Arvind Kejriwal's residence.
The AAP, clearly putting the onus on the saffron front of the BJP and Akali Dal to stake claim and prove their majority on the floor of the House, has ruled out any possibility of allowing them to run a minority government. "We will vote against the government," AAP leader Yogendra Yadav said.
AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal credited his party's good show to the common man and called it a victory of the people. Unlike the election campaigns, a humble and sincere Arvind Kejriwal said he and his associates will continue to work for the betterment of the country.
"The big victory margins that you see, these victory margins are not our wins. The victory margins reflect the intense anger that people have against the system, against politicians. I have defeated Sheila ji by 22,000 votes. This is not my victory. It shows the intensity of people's anger. People were looking for an alternative. And today, they have got that honest alternative," Kejriwal said.
Sensing a surge, AAP appears willing to precipitate another elections in the state after their spectacular performance. The BJP is falling short even if it manages to garner support from the independent and with the Congress in no position to extend any help either, the single largest party has decided to wait and watch.
Delhi BJP in-charge Nitin Gadkari said the party will sit in Opposition in Delhi Assembly if it does not get majority. He said, "We will form government if we get support in natural process. Otherwise would like to sit in Opposition."
