I'm not in presidential race: Big B
In a surprise move, someone had dropped the name of Amitabh Bachchan as one of the potential candidates.

New Delhi: Denying the claim of Samajawadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh, Amitabh Bachchan on Saturday said he has no plans to contest the next presidential elections.

As quoted by PTI, the Bollywood superstar said in Mumbai, "I am deeply humbled and touched by the thought. But I am not worthy of such a distinguished post of responsibility. Besides, no such offer or proposal has come my way yet."

In a surprise move, someone had dropped the name of Amitabh Bachchan as one of the potential candidates.

According to reports, Bachchan friends in the Samajwadi have begun whispering his name with the support of the so-called 'Third Front' consisting of SP, TDP, AIADMK and AGP.

Amar Singh had told journalists that Bachchan's candidature for the post of President could be considered after the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

The idea had also received support from the Telugu Desam Party chief and former Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Amar Singh has been very vocal insisting that his party is not for a Congress candidate for the top post.

He said non-Congress and non-BJP parties like SP, Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP, AIADMK and AGP, which form the Third Front are in touch with INLD as also National Conference's Farooq Abdullah and would take a collective decision.
