Intellectuals marched in a procession with an appeal to the political parties to ensure peaceful elections in WB.

Kolkata: Intellectuals on Monday marched in a procession here with an appeal to the political parties to ensure peaceful elections in West Bengal.

Eminent actor and film maker, Aparna Sen said all political parties should ensure that there was no intimidation to any political activist.

Popular theatre personality, Kaushik Sen said, "Our appeal to the political parties is to prepare a congenial atmosphere for holding free, fair and peaceful election in our state."

Others who marched in the procession from Academy of Fine Arts to Metro channel included Sahitya Akademy Award winning poet Sankha Ghosh and novelist Suchitra Bhattacharya.

Their placards read "We want free, fair and peaceful elections."
