Is Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa set to quit?
Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa could be asked to put in in his papers, sources said.

New Delhi: Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa who has been accused in a massive 500 crore land scam might be asked to put in in his papers, sources said.Sources also said that he might leave for Delhi on Sunday.

Top BJP leaders have already met in the capital earlier today to debate that very question - the party seems to be divided for now .

But Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, the saffron party's first and only govt in the south insists he won't be quitting. He says he has the support of 110-120 MLAs.

Senior BJP leaders including LK Advani met at party chief Nitin Gadkari's residence in Delhi to discuss the possibility of a leadership change in Karnataka.

Sources spoke to CNN-IBN that the BJP top brass is divided over his sacking. In his defence the party says the family has surrendered all the controversial land.

He may however be asked to explain his stand on allegations that payments were made by the mining lobby to companies owned by his sons. Yeddyurappa says all allegations will be probed by a retired Supreme Court judge.

Yeddyurappa in the end may not have much of a choice. He could resign tonight or tomorrow morning and wait for the judicial probe to get over and then comeback as the CM.

The other big question that lies ahead is that who will replace Yeddyurappa for the interim? Sources say since most BJP MLAs are from the Lingayat community, Panchayat Raj Minister Jagadish Shettar, a lingayat, is clearly the frontrunner.

The name of Law Minister Suresh Kumar is also doing the rounds and former state unit chief Sadananda Gowda, who is considered close to the CM, is also in the race.
