Hyderabad: A local court on Friday granted the CBI three more days of custody of V Vijay Sai Reddy, vice chairman of Jagati Publications and an accused in the disproportionate assets case against YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Andhra Pradesh High Court had yesterday set aside another court's order granting the agency further custody of Vijay Sai, saying that it should approach the regular court.
The agency moved the special court for CBI cases on Friday, which remanded Vijay Sai to further custody from January 14 to 16. He will have to be produced in the court on January 17.
The court has also made an 'initial recommendation' to Hyderabad District Collector to accord a special class prisoner status to Vijay Sai, lodged in Chanchalguda Jail here since the arrest on January 2.
The CBI had told the court that Vijay Sai had revealed some incriminating facts during the interrogation, but he was yet to be confronted with some vital information.
The CBI's FIR against Jagan Mohan and 73 others (including Vijay Sai) alleges that several firms, who had been granted favours by the state government, invested in Jagan Mohan-promoted companies at a high-premium - by way of quid pro quo - during the time his father, the late YS Rajasekhar Reddy, was the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.
