Jaya grants solatium to Thane victims
The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister also granted a solatium of Rs 2 lakh to the families of two police personnel.

Chennai: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Wednesday granted a solatium of Rs 2 lakh to the family of Veerappan, hailing from Chinnababusamuthram, who was killed in the rampage caused by cyclone Thane on December 31.

The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) general secretary also granted solatium of Rs 1 lakh to the families of two persons hailing from Veeranthangal village in Vellore district who were killed in a road accident on January 2 this year.

The Chief Minister also granted a solatium of Rs 2 lakh to the families of two police personnel — M George serving in Chennai and M Rajendran serving in Thalaignayiru — who were killed in road accidents that took place on January 1 and 2.

She expressed her grief over the loss of lives in the incidents.
