Tiruchirapalli: AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa on Thursday hit the campaign trail for the April 13 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls by attacking the ruling DMK regime, alleging there was "jungle rule" in the state devoid of law and order.
Launching her campaign from the temple town of Srirangam, from where her ancestors migrated to Mysore, she alleged that the DMK rule has become "a single family" (Karunanihdi) rule.
She said the 2G spectrum scam, in connection with which DMK leader and former Telecom minister A Raja is in jail, had lowered the state's image all over the country.
She said though the DMK was part of the UPA government, it had not taken any steps to control the soaring prices of essential commodities.
Jayalalithaa said if her party was voted to power, it would bring back the derailed economy of the state on track and take it in the right direction.
Coming down heavily on the UPA government for "raising petroleum prices nine times in a span of three years," Jayalalithaa accused the DMK government of not taking any steps to solve Cauvery and Mulla Periyar issue with Karnataka and Kerala respectively.
