Patna: RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav on Saturday hit out at the BJP and RSS for speculating about his party's tie-up with JD(U) for the coming state assembly elections and said they were "more worried about the alliance" owing to "fear of defeat."

"BJP, RSS and a few media houses supported by them are more worried and anxious about our alliance. The fear of defeat has made place in their hearts before the elections," Prasad wrote on a social networking site.

Prasad's reactions came after speculations and taunts by BJP and allied party leaders about the fate of the proposed RJD-JD(U) alliance for the ensuing assembly elections, especially after the much touted merger of six Janata Parivar parties including these two, as well as - INLD, JD(S), SP and SJP - turned out to be a 'no show'.

The RJD chief's comments could also be seen in the backdrop of bickering in the RJD and JD(U) camps over the leadership of alliance and division of seats to be contested in the 243-member Legislative Assembly between the two parties.

In war of words, RJD leader and former Union Minister Raghuvansh Prasad Singh said that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was not acceptable as the alliance leader, inviting retort by JD(U) state President Vashistha Narayan Singh who said only Kumar will be the leader in the coming polls.

As both parties also scout for other options, Congress overtures to JD(U) has provided a shot in arm to Kumar, while Prasad has been weighing options to rope in Kumar's bete noire and former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi who has formed Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM).

What's your reaction?
