Maya eyes national role, files nomination for RS
The BSP won 80 seats in the recent UP election, which makes it eligible for two seats in the Upper House.

Lucknow: Making her move to national politics after electoral debacle of the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Uttar Pradesh, party chief and outgoing Chief Minister Mayawati on Tuesday filed her nomination for a Raya Sabha seat.

Mayawati said being in Delhi will help her focus more on UP's problems and concentrate on the 2014 General Elections.

The BSP won 80 seats in the recent UP election, which makes it eligible for two seats in the Upper House.

Western UP leader Munquad Ali is the second BSP leader to file his nomination for Rajya Sabha.

"I am free now. I can spend more time for my party and UP. I am confident that our work will get us good results in the Lok Sabha elections," said Mayawati.
