Lucknow: Eyeing the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, the Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has decided to adopt the strategy of social coalition building by uniting the Dalits and the Muslim vote bank into her favour.
The Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party, which occupies the frontrunner position in every exit poll in Uttar Pradesh, holds full support of the Dalit community.
Lashing out at Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government, Mayawati said that present government has not done anything for the upliftment of Muslim community. She further added that SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav is hand in gloves with the BJP.
She accused the SP government of fanning riots in the state. Pointing out the Muzaffarnagar riots, she said that the state has witnessed more than 400 riots in SP regime. The relief camps were ransacked on government orders just few days after the riots in Muzaffarnagar, she added.
In order to woo Muslims, Mayawati has issued a seven-page booklet and named it 'Who is the well wisher of Muslims? Decide Yourself'(Muslimon ka sacha hiteshi kaun? Faisla aap par). Hundreds of the copies are being distributed amongst the people in the rural belt of Uttar Pradesh.
In the book she has mentioned, that her party will topple the BJP govt as it did in the past. It is to be noted that she has notified her victory in 1999 against BJP's Atal Bihari Vajpayee. BJP is Enemy No. 1 for BSP, reads the booklet.
Noteworthy, as the part of the strategy, the Dalit ambassador, Mayawati, has given tickets to Muslims for the upcoming polls in UP and also handed over key responsibilities to the members of minority community.
Muslim BSP leaders like Nasimuddin Siddiqui, Naushad Ali, Mohammad Athar Khan and many others are promoting the party amongst their community.
But the question that still remain unanswered, 'Will Mayawati's social engineering succeed this time?'.
