Modi has developed a mind set of criticising everything: Congress
Congress on Tuesday alleged that the mindset of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has become "criticism-centric" toward every development initiative taken by the UPA government. Congress on Tuesday alleged that the mindset of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has become "criticism-centric" toward every development initiative taken by the UPA government. "We don't expect any constructive comments from Narendra Modi as his mindset has become such that he criticise all development initiatives taken by the Central government," AICC spokesman Prem Chand Singh told reporters in Ranchi.

Briefing the media about National Food Security Ordinance, Singh was recalling Modi's criticism of the UPA government's food security programme. Modi had on Sunday said the Centre was under the impression that merely bringing in the Bill would lead to food reaching the needy. Hitting back at Modi, Singh said from former prime minister Indira Gandhi to AICC President Sonia Gandhi to Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh every Congress leader have had fully devoted in working for eradication of poverty and the latest programme could achieve success to the maximum extent in addressing it.

"The states need not have to fear for any financial burden as the Centre has taken care of it till it reaches the Targeted Public Distribution System," the AICC leader said. He said up to 75 per cent of rural population and up to 50 per cent of the urban population will have uniform entitlement of five kg food grains per month at highly subsidised prices of Rs 3, Rs 2 and Rs one per kg for rice, wheat and coarse grains respectively. Besides this programme, the poorest of the poor would continue to get 35 kg per household under the Antyodaya Anna Yojna, he said. The Yojna was launched during the AB Vajpayee's regime.
