PIL over missing names in Mumbai voters list likely to be filed today
A campaign 'I am a deleted voter' has been started and affidavits collected through the campaign will be produced to back the PIL.

Mumbai: Mumbai-based lawyer Mohan Jaykar is likely to file a PIL seeking investigation into missing names on the voter list in Mumbai on Tuesday.

A campaign 'I am a deleted voter' has been started and affidavits collected through the campaign will be produced to back the PIL.

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena too is now mulling filing a PIL in the Bombay High Court. Reports suggest over 1 lakh names were missing from the voters list with around 10,000 names missing from the Bandra-SantaCruz-Khar belt.

Election Commissioner HS Brahma apologised for the huge lapse and said steps will be taken to rectify it. "I must apologise and regret that such a large number of Indian voters' names have been found to be not there in our rolls. Such a massive operational like this cannot happen. As a person I am not able to understand how such a massive number of names can be missed from a small combat area. Most likely the course of this unauthorised deletion is because of lack of proper supervision," Brahma said.
