The allegations of involvement of political meddling in the Pune Porsche case have now been leveled up with the latest claims of Sassoon Hospital’s dean, who has asserted that one of the doctors accused of replacing the blood samples of the teenager involved in the accident had been made the head of the forensic department at the insistence of a state minister and an MLA.
Naming Maharashtra Medical Education Minister Hasan Mushrif and Ajit Pawar faction’s MLA Sunil Tingre, the hospital’s dean, Vinayak Kale, during a press conference said that both the political leaders wrote a letter to the Sassoon Hospital and asked for Dr Ajay Tawade to be made the head of its Forensic Medicine Department.

Teen’s Blood Samples Replaced
The allegations by Sassoon Hospital Dean came after Dr Ajay Taware, head of the state-run Sassoon hospital’s forensic medicine department; chief medical officer Dr Shrihari Halnor; and hospital staff member Atul Ghatkamble were arrested for allegedly throwing away the minor’s blood samples, taken after the accident on May 19.
The three accused mentioned above also allegedly replaced the teen’s samples with another person’s blood which had no traces of alcohol.
Following the allegations, Maharashtra government removed the two doctors — Dr Ajay Taware and Dr Shrihari Halnor — from their posts. Wardboy Atul Ghatkamble involved in the case was also suspended.
