Railway bribery scam: Bansal maintains his innocence
The telephone transcripts gave details of how Bansal's nephew was using his network to fix the posting of a board member.

New Delhi: Former Railway Minister Pawan Bansal has has rejected reports that his name was mentioned in the railway bribery scam transcripts.

"I wasn't aware of any deal. One needs to have some faith in the institutions. When the CBI raids my nephew's house, it is hailed as good. When even after interrogating me for seven hours the CBI couldn't find anything, then is CBI wrong?," the former rail minister asked.

On reports of BJP comments of his involvement in the sacam, Bansal said: "This is not the first time BJP is raking up issues against me, they have been doing this for years."

CNN-IBN had reported two weeks ago that the tapes with CBI had nothing on Bansal. The telephone transcripts gave details of how Bansal's nephew Singla was using his network to fix the posting of a Board member. The CBI has given a clean chit to Bansal and has made him a prosecution witness in the case.
