Bangalore: The administration is likely to come to a halt due a cold war between the Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah and top IAS officers. According to reports, Siddaramaiah has ordered the suspension of a senior IAS officer and secretary to the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms Sanjiv Kumar for bypassing the state Cabinet.
Sanjiv Kumar informed the Karnataka High Court about the constitution of Officers Service Board, which fixes the tenure of government employees. It has angered the ministers who accused the bureaucrats of deliberately bypassing the Cabinet.
According to a senior minister, an angry Siddaramaiah took Sanjiv Kumar to task and asked him get out of Cabinet meeting. He also instructed the chief secretary Kaushik Mukherjee to suspend him for insubordination.
But, more than 15 top bureaucrats held a long meeting in the room of chief secretary and decided not to make Sanjiv Kumar a sacrificial lamb. The chief secretary is yet to issue suspension order of Sanjiv Kumar.
But, the ministers are demanding that he must be suspended immediately.
