Hyderabad: Telangana Congress leaders, who have been agitating for separate statehood, have been asked to come to Delhi for talks by senior party leader Ghulam Nabi Azad.

On the other hand, Congress leaders from other parts of Andhra Pradesh, who are opposed to division of the state, are also camping in the national capital.

Congress MP G Vivek said on Sunday night that Azad, in-charge of party affairs in AP, called up state Panchayati Raj Minister K Jana Reddy and MP K Keshav Rao.

The matter will be discussed in the extended meeting of Telangana Congress leaders on Monday, he said.

The Telangana Congress MPs, MLAs and MLCs had submitted their resignations en mass earlier and held a 48-hour fast last week to press for their demand of a separate state.

The top leadership of Congress had earlier indicated that it planned to initiate a consultation process.

Significantly, Congress leaders from non-Telangana regions are also camping in Delhi to meet the party's top leaders, to press their case for keeping the state united.

"We (MLAs, ministers and others) want to bring the truth to the notice of Prime Minister and high command. We will tomorrow meet at MP KS Rao's residence and decide the proposals to be made," Erasu Pratapa Reddy, state Law Minister and a pro-unified state leader, said in the national capital on Sunday.
