New Delhi: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti has welcomed the endorsement of a separate state of Telangana by the UPA. "The party is happy that the UPA has taken a decision in favour of Telangana," TRS leader Keshav Rao said. But they have refrained from any celebrations until the final decision is made. "We will not celebrate unless the Bill is passed in the Parliament considering the Congress party's track record," he said.
Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhar Rao's daughter K Kavitha Rao also echoed the same concern. "Yes, we are very happy that UPA has cleared the pending issue, but at the same time we are cautious from the last experience. The last time the Congress under pressure from Seemandhra leaders and did not take a decision," she said.
On the issue of Hyderabad, Rao added that there can be no compromise on the issue and the city will be the capital of the proposed Telangana state. "We hope now Telangana will be a reality, but we are cautious also," he added.
The reactions come after a decision to create a separate state of Telangana has been endorsed by the UPA. The move got a unanimous nod from the UPA in a meeting of the constituents of the ruling coalition which was held at Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's residence on Tuesday. "The UPA unanimously decided in favour of Telangana," RLD leader and Union minister Ajit Singh said after the meeting.
