New Delhi: There is no end to mystery in the Sunanda Pushkar death case with Delhi Police on Saturday questioning Congress MP Shashi Tharoor for nearly five hours in connection with his wife's death.
Sources said throughout the probe Tharoor said he doesn't suspect foul play in his wife's death and claimed that Sunanda died due to medication.
According to the sources, Tharoor was then quizzed on who purchased the medicines.
Delhi Police Chief BS Bassi said that Tharoor was questioned on the presence of Alprax tablet in the room where Sunanda was found dead. Bassi said that Tharoor was questioned about what happened in Kalinga Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS), where Sunanda was undergoing treatment before she came to Delhi.
The FBI lab report, in January, which analysed Sunanda's viscera sample, had suggested that she may have died of an overdose of either anti-anxiety drug alprax or local anesthetic lidocaine.
The 16-page report has said she died due to poisoning, but ruled out radioactive substances like polonium, a combination of illicit drugs, or alcohol abuse. The lab report had listed traces of both alprax and lidocaine in her viscera sample, and only further investigation can conclude how it entered her body.
Strips of alprax were found near Pushkar's body by investigators following her death at a five star hotel in south Delhi on January 17, 2014
Tharoor has been already been questioned thrice in the murder case, and six witnesses -- including his domestic help Narayan Singh, driver Bajrangi and friend Sanjay Dewan -- subjected to lie detector tests.
