TMC doesn't indulge in revenge politics: Mamata
Taking a dig at the Left party, Banerjee said its 34-year-rule had "ruined the state".

Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Sunday reiterated her party does not indulge in politics of 'revenge' and asserted that former CPI-M minister Sushanta Ghosh was behind bars as he was 'trapped in his own ploy'.

"We don't indulge in politics of revenge. If we do so, we will have to create separate jails," Banerjee told a rally of Trinamool Chatra Parishad, the party's student wing, on the occasion of its foundation day.

Without naming Ghosh, who is now in jail for his alleged involvement in the skeleton recovery case, she said, "He went for anticipatory bail. We didn't do anything. He was trapped in his own ploy."

"So far 25 skeletons have been unearthed and they are saying that these people had small pox. The law will take its own course," she said.

Taking a dig at the Left party, Banerjee said its 34-year-rule had "ruined the state".

"In education, health and administration, it has created a rule of the party. We will have to break it and create a proper democratic atmosphere. Some have been broken, but we need to break more," the chief minister said.

Earlier on Sunday day, CPI(M) state secretary Biman Bose alleged that the ruling Trinamool is adopting "politics of revenge" as exemplified by the way Ghosh has been arrested.

Talking to reporters, Bose alleged that the persons "used as witnesses" in the skeleton recovery case were "fixed" according to the plan of the ruling party.

"How a person, who only gives thumb impression, can remember so many names andi nformation to the CID officials? This is nothing but a calculated move by the major ruling party against its rival party," Bose said.

"By going through the progress of the case, people will easily understand what is right and what is wrong," he said.
