Popular hero Sarath Kumar is all set to launch a new political party, laying claim to the Kamaraj legacy.

New Delhi: Popular Tamil actor Sarath Kumar is the next star all set to launch a new political party in a big to play "clean and decent" politics and revive the legacy of late Congress stalwart K Kamaraj.

After organising a function to lay the foundation stone for the construction of a memorial for former chief minister Kamaraj at his birthplace in Virudhunagar, the actor announced on Tuesday that he planned to launch a political party.

"Most probably, we will announce the name of the party, flag and other details after August or by the end of this year. Our objective is very clear. We want to enlighten the present generation, on the legacy of Kamaraj, the tallest leader in Indian politics and the need to bring back "Kamaraj rule",” UNI quoted him as saying.

He added his party would provide a change and bring about clean politics, emerging as a force to reckon with in the future.

It was an effort to be an alternative to the two Dravidian parties, which had been at the helm of affairs in the state after the fall of Congress regime in the 1960s, he said.

Sarath kumar, has had stints in both the DMK and AIADMK, and confessed that the two parties had used him for 'campaigning' and had not given him any responsibility to serve the people.
