Lucknow: After facing a lot of criticism for deteriorating law and order, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has decided not to post police personnel in their home districts. The previous BSP government of Mayawati has ordered that police officials should be posted more than 250 km away from his or her home district.
But the Akhilesh Yadav government overturned the decision and allowed posting of police officials in their home district. Thousands of police officials were posted in their home districts.
But senior officials received several complaints that police personnel posted in their home districts favoured their family members and acquaintances whenever there was an allegation involving them.
The state has witnessed a spate of riots and horrific crimes against women including rapes.
