Chaaver 3rd Best Film In Indian Cinema Category At Bengaluru Film Festival
Chaaver was directed by Tinu Pappachan and was written by actor Joy Mathew. The film starred Kunchacko Boban, Arjun Ashokan and Antony Varghese in lead roles.

The 15th edition of the Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFF) concluded on March 7. With the screening of 180 films across various categories, the festival took place at PVR Orion in Rajajinagar, Suchitra Academy and Dr Rajkumar Bhavana. The awards recognised the Kannada films and movies from other states as well based on their gripping storyline and impact. The Malayalam film, Chaaver won the the prize of the third best film in the category of the Indian Cinema Competition.

Opened to critical acclaim but failed at the box office, the movie impressed the jury members of the BIFF. It was directed by Tinu Pappachan and was written by actor Joy Mathew. The film starred Kunchacko Boban, Arjun Ashokan and Antony Varghese in lead roles. Rajesh Sharma and Deepak Parambol also played prominent roles in the film.

The first prize for the best film in the Indian Cinema Category was bagged by the Marathi movie Shyamchi Aai. It was directed by Sujay Dahake and starred Om Bhutkar, Sandeep Pathak and Mayur More in the lead roles. In the same category, Chaaver which was a massive failure at the box office has now surprised the audience the most.

The film was produced by Arun Narayan and Venu Kunnapilly under the banner of Arun Narayan Productions and Kavya Film Company. The music of the movie was composed by Justin Varghese. The story of the movie revolves around a group of goons who commit a political assassination and are now being chased by the police.

The movie beautifully unfolds the mysteries in the film and showcases the dark truth of political killings. The story majorly revolves around the character of Arjun Ashokan who co-incidentally gets involved with the accused and is being chased by the police. The performances of Kunchacko Boban and Arjun Ashokan garnered praise from the audience and the critics for their performance in the movie. The film was released last year on October 5.

In the Asian Cinema Category, the Jordanian film Inshallah A Boy won the Best Film Prize while the Kannada film Nirvana won the First Best Film award in the Kannada cinema competition category at BIFFes 2024. At the festival, the filmmaker and art designer MS Sathyu was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
