Apple Has 'Good News' For iPhone 7 Owners In This Country: Users Could Get Up To Rs 29,000
This compensation is available solely to residents of the United States who owned an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus between September 16, 2016, and January 3, 2023.

In 2023, Apple reached a $35 million settlement to resolve a lawsuit accusing the company of audio playback issues in the iPhone 7 series, specifically linked to a defective chip in the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus. And now, Apple has started the notification process for eligible customers, but there are a few caveats.

As spotted by MacRumors, firstly, this compensation is available solely to residents of the United States who owned an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus between September 16, 2016, and January 3, 2023. Additionally, they must have reported the audio issues to Apple or incurred expenses for a repair or replacement due to the audio problems mentioned in the lawsuit.

This means that this compensation isn’t for those in India. So, if you are an Indian resident and had similar issues, you are out of luck.

The lawsuit settlement page defines the criteria: “You may be included in this Settlement as a member of the ‘Settlement Class’ and entitled to receive a payment called the ‘Class Payment’ if you owned an iPhone 7 or iPhone 7 Plus between September 16, 2016, and January 3, 2023, and you either complained to Apple regarding an issue covered by the Settlement or paid Apple for a repair or replacement covered by the Settlement.”

For those who haven’t received an official email but believe they are eligible, they can contact [email protected]. The deadline to claim the settlement money is June 3.

Regarding compensation, users who paid for complete repairs out of their own pocket could receive up to $349, while those who experienced issues but did not pursue repairs themselves may be eligible for up to $125. It’s important to understand that these settlements are based upon approval from a California Court on July 18.
