Apple Talking With Meta For Its AI Push But It Faces Hurdles To Launch In China: Here’s The Story
Apple has started its AI push with a bang but some countries could put a halt on its charge as the AI development brings regulators into the picture.

Apple’s AI push has already hit a few hurdles that will keep the company busy through the night. Apple Intelligence is making its way to iPhones later this year, and the company has also got OpenAI on board to bring ChatGPT to the devices. But Apple is facing a big issue related to its AI ambitions in one of its biggest markets, Europe and China.

During the WWDC 2024 earlier this month, Apple suggested it won’t stop looking for more AI partners, which isn’t surprising since Apple was reportedly talking to Google earlier. Now, reports say Apple is ready to partner with Meta for its big push as well.

Apple AI EU Launch Delay?

Apple and the EU have been in an ongoing battle over various issues, which also catapulted the change of iPhones to support USB C for charging. But now, the company faces a tough challenge getting its AI features to the region, owing to the limitations posed by the Digital Markets Act. Some of the AI features from Apple face regulatory pressure, which seems to have forced the company’s hand to delay their availability which will be a big loss for the consumers as well as Apple.

What About, China

Similarly, the AI objective in China and its regulatory framework means Apple’s official OpenAI deal to bring ChatGPT will not be functional in the region. Instead, Apple will have to partner with a local AI company to bring their localised features and regulated setup to appease the Chinese government and also keep the consumers happy by giving them all of those features on their latest devices.

This isn’t the last time we are hearing about Apple’s AI pressure in different markets but hopefully that doesn’t deprive users of these features that are claimed to be secure and privacy-proof.
