Gmail Gets New AI Power To Help You Master The Art Of Writing Mails: Here's How
Gemini is becoming a core part of Google AI mission and spreading now across to Pixels and Gmail.

If you have trouble writing difficult emails, Google just made it a lot easier for you. The company recently rolled out a new feature for Gmail powered by its Gemini artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot.

With the new “help me write” and “polish” features, Gmail users can generate complete formal email drafts based on rough notes. They can also edit and change the tone of their email with just a single click. It is worth noting that these features are accessible only to the paid subscribers of Gemini AI.

In a Google Workspace blog post, the company announced that the new tools will be made available on web, Android, and iOS devices. Additionally, the tech giant is also adding a shortcut for the Refine feature in Help Me Write for Android and iOS devices.

With the Help Me Write feature, Gemini-powered Gmail has the option to formalize, elaborate, and shorten a draft, or it can write a new draft altogether, enhancing the tonality or the length of the draft.

The second feature, called Polish, is a new addition to Refine. In the blog post, Google said, “If you enter rough notes into a draft, Gemini can turn the content into a completely formal draft, ready for you to review in one click.”

However, it is to be noted that this feature only works when there are at least 12 words written in the text field. Once a user has typed 12 words or more, a “Refine my draft” option will pop up underneath the text on smartphones.

Users can access the new Gemini edit options by swiping right. Moreover, there is another option dubbed ‘Write a draft’ that can use the typed words as a prompt and continue the email from there.

These features are only available to Google Workspace users who have subscribed to the Enterprise add-on and Gemini Business, the Gemini Education and Education Premium add-on, or the Google One AI Premium plan.

Meanwhile, the tech giant has begun rolling out the ‘Summarise This Email’ option on its Gmail app, which brings advanced AI capabilities. It is available on Android and iOS devices for paid users, summarises long conversations and presents recaps and highlights to the users to save time. This move comes after the Gemini artificial intelligence (AI) model was added to Google Drive, Google Sheets, Slides, and Google Docs.
