New Delhi: In a welcome update, Google’s Play Books now supports horizontal viewing mode especially for comic book reading.

The Google Play Books app now lets readers enjoy comic books more by simply flipping the phone sideways, making the speech bubbles more readable.

The new update not only makes it easy to read the comic books on a phone or tablet but also improves upon the navigation within the app.

Google has introduced a new vertical scrolling experience for comics in landscape mode, making it convenient to easily scroll through a story with a quick swipe.

Other than the new reading mode and navigation change, the updated Google Play Books also makes finding content easier than before. The new app now gets a separate comics destination section that contains curated series pages which are organised by volume, issue, and other editions of the top comic series. A new personalised recommendations section has also been added.

The updated app will be rolled out to Android in the coming days followed by iOS in the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, India, Singapore, Ireland, New Zealand and South Africa.
