New Delhi: Android One users in India have a reason to rejoice now. Google has started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Android One handsets in India.
"To those with Android One phones in India, here's where we are with the over-the-air (OTA) update that will bring Android Lollipop to you soon. We've already started rolling out Lollipop to a small number of phones in India," said Caesar Sengupta, Product Management Director at Google, in a post on Google Plus.
This is a gradual process and Google each week will push the OTA update to more phones selected at random.
Google last year had launched Android One range of devices in partnership with Indian handset makers Micromax, Karbonn and Spice and mobile operators like Airtel and Reliance.
The Android One devices currently available in India are the Micromax Canvas A1, Karbonn Sparkle V and the Spice Dream Uno.
With Android One, Google aims to improve the quality of hardware and software by giving handset makers a frame of reference.
