iPhone 16 Is Made In India But What About The iPhone 16 Pro? Here’s What We Know
The iPhone 16 series have lost more items from the box, including the charger but how is Apple fulfilling its make in India push?

Apple iPhone 16 series has launched in India, and they have gone on sale as well, giving people a closer look at the new iPhones and their features. Granted, the big-ticket upgrades for these iPhones will actually be rolling out next month, but the ever-increasing excitement for iPhones has been there to see.

It also helps the fact that Apple is making the iPhone 16 model in India this year from day one, which has been spotted with the boxes of the new iPhone model that are available for customers. But what about the iPhone 16 Pro premium variants, where is Apple making these models? Going by the details available on the new iPhone retail boxes, the iPhone 16 Pro is still being manufactured in China.

The details about the new iPhones come a few weeks after it was reported that Apple will start making the iPhone 16 Pro models in India from this year onwards.

Apple’s Make In India Push For the Pros

Even then, Apple has managed to cut the iPhone 16 Pro series price in India by Rs 15,000 compared to last year’s Pro version. But how did that happen? The company has most likely passed on the custom duty cuts to the consumer that was announced during the Union Budget 2024 in July.

Apple has been looking to reduce its dependence on China for manufacturing iPhones, and India has already become a strong alternative to lead the charge.

The company started the make in India mission with the iPhone SE series many years back and gradually its lineup includes the latest iPhone models. But till date, the Pro versions have been manufactured in China, mostly because of the higher component quality and technical workforce on offer. The iPhone Pro model is built using titanium materials, higher version cameras and other advanced tech that needs a better equipped workforce.

In addition to Apple, Google has also started making the Pixel 8 model in India, and soon the brand will be assembling the Pixel 8a version in the country as well.
