With the Make In India initiative, many tech companies have started in India. One more company is all set to launch their IoT and smartphones in India. Okwu Mobiles will have a launch event in New Delhi on November 15, 2016.
The company will be launching a smartphone under Rs 10,000 in India and that will kickstart their entry into the Indian, Internet of Things (IoT) market. We caught up with the founders of Okwu in September 2016, for a Facebook Live session at News18 Tech where they showed us their prototype device and IoT solutions.
'Okwu' is a Nigerian word that means 'Hello' and many might think that it's a Chinese brand. But Okwu is an indegenious startup that will cater to Iot solutions in the future. The company will be seeing their phones and IoT products only through an Online model first, but they do have plans to enter the offline retail model as well.
