One of the most-loved television soap operas Kasautii Zindagii Ki turned 22 years on October 29. The series, starring Ronit Roy and Shweta Tripathi in lead roles, enjoyed a massive TRP rating back in 2001. After running successfully for seven years, Kasautii Zindagii Ki returned for the second season in 2018, thanks to the abundance of love from viewers. Although the soap opera has run its course, there is no denying that this Ektaa Kapoor production made Ronit Roy and Shweta Tripathi the stars of the telly screen that they are now. On that note, Ronit Roy celebrated 22 years of KZK by thanking Ektaa Kapoor for making him the “iconic Mr Bajaj” who is still remembered fondly by many.

In a now-disappeared Instagram story, Ronit Roy dropped a throwback picture with his co-star Shwera Tripath, calling Kasautii Zindagii Ki a show that “redefined” his career in showbiz. “22 years of Kasautii Zindagii Kay. A show that redefined my career, and my life. I thank my fans for the undying love I thank the entire cast and crew of KZK Thank you Ekta Kapoor for making me the iconic Mr. Bajaj,” he wrote. Re-sharing the story, on her own Instagram handle, Ektaa Kapoor simply wrote, “Hugs”.

Ronit Roy essayed the role of a brooding man Rishabh Bajaj in Kasautii Zindagii Ki who gets married to Prerna played by Shweta Tripathi. Their on-screen romance was a hit back in the day and attained a cult status among viewers. KZK also starred Cezanne Khan as Anurag Basu, who portrayed the role of Prerna’s potential love interest. Actress Urvashi Dholakia who slipped into the shoes of the iconic Komolika, made the character an eternal villain of the KZK franchise.

Earlier in an interaction with Mid-Day, Ronit Roy revealed that his character Mr Bajaj was originally supposed to be a three-month role. But since fans showered so much love on his role, it got extended. He even agreed to sport salt-and-pepper hair upon instruction by Ektaa Kapoor as no other actor was ready to look older. “She wanted a younger actor to play an older man to get that youthful appearance like Richard Gere,” said Ronit Roy in the interview.

On the work front, Ronit Roy was last seen in the film Shehzaada, playing the role of Kartik Aaryan’s on-screen father. He also featured in an important role in Netflix’s Bloody Daddy, headlined by Shahid Kapoor.
