Sumbul Touqeer rose to fame after her stint in the Star Plus show Imlie, which recently completed three years of successful run on Indian television. Sumbul Touqeer was seen portraying the titular role when it just premiered in 2020. As the storyline evolved, the show took generation leaps and introduced other actresses as leads. Currently, the show is led by Adrija Roy and Sai Ketan Rao. Recently, Sumbul Touqeer revisited the sets of Imlie and met the duo.
Sai Ketan Rao shared a snap with Sumbul with the caption, “Look who’s on set.” Sumbul was seen in a casual t-shirt and trousers, while Sai Ketan was seen in a black shirt. Sumbul reshared the picture and wrote, “Lovely meeting you.” Sumbul also shared a picture with Adrija Roy with a quirky caption, “Imlie aur Imlie Ki Nani.” As per the storyline, Sumbul’s character would have been the maternal grandmother of Adrija’s current role.
The Star Plus show Imlie is produced by Gul Khan under 4 Lions Films. The daily soap began with Sumbul Touqeer and Gashmeer Mahajani as Imlie and Aditya, respectively. The show’s plot revolves around Imlie and Aditya being forced to marry. Following Gashmeer’s departure from the show, the producers cast Fahmaan Khan in the lead role alongside Sumbul Touqeer. Later, they were replaced by Megha Chakraborty and Karan Vohra as the second generation.
Earlier, to celebrate the momentous occasion for the show, the young actress turned to Instagram to express her deep gratitude to the makers. Sumbul Touqeer shared a photograph in a humorous pose wearing and clutching culinary equipment such as a knife, rolling pin, casserole dish, and so on, and dressed in her character’s outfit.
Sumbul Touqeer began her career in the entertainment industry as a child performer, appearing in productions such as Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal, Aahat, Birbal, and Jodha Akbar. Her portrayal of Imlie, however, made her a household name. Post-show, she was seen on the popular reality show Bigg Boss 16. She is now enthralling audiences as IAS officer Kavya Bansal in Kavya-Ek Jazbaa, Ek Junoon on Sony TV. The show follows Kavya, an aspiring IAS officer who faces the difficulty of balancing work and personal life as a woman, while also emphasising the enormous responsibility of handling the country’s affairs. Mishkat Varma, Chandresh Singh, Anuj Sullere, and Rudrakshi Gupta also play important roles in the show.
